Conservation: Together at Home

The Icon webinar series, Conservation: Together at Home, has provided a sense of community and continued professionalism for conservators and interested others during the on-going Covid-19 pandemic.

The Book & Paper Group Committee was proactive in establishing the series within just two weeks of the initial shut down-Andrew Honey presented the first lecture on Thursday 26th March. Since then, the programme has offered structure and a sense of normality in an otherwise constantly shifting existence.

I was delighted to present a paper on Chester Beatty manuscript Is 1404, a huge Umayyad Qur'an, as part of the series. This is an adapted version of the paper I first presented at the Care and Conservation of Manuscripts 17 Seminar in Copenhagen, which will hopefully soon be published in thMuseum Tusculanum Press proceedings.

You can find links to other lectures in the series on the ICON website, or via the ICON Book & Paper Group YouTube channel.
